William asks…
Are these operating or non operating activities ?
Long term deposits and prepayments
Share of (loss) / prot of joint venture, net of prot of associate
Finance cost
Equity accounted investments

kenspong answers:
Operating = prepayments,
Non operating = Long term deposits, finance cost
The other things mentioned are not items that could be straightforward classified as operating or non operating i.e. Profit in itself is not operating or non operating, profit is broken down and analysed, “operating profit” is generally profits generated before financing costs and company taxation, then non operating revenues are applied to achieve the final profit. Equity accounted investments is a term to describe where a subsidiary company’s financial results are included in group accounts as a one line entry, rather than a proportional consolidation of the income statement and balance sheet.

kenspong answers:
Because more qualified candidates applied.
Because a University of Phoenix degree isn’t very valuable to the academic world. A university of Purdue’s caliber would want to hire someone with adequate education.
Because he included an honorary doctorate as though it’s relevant to anything. (Hint: An honorary doctorate does not imply anything about a person’s abilities.)
